How to crack it early?

Mindset : Grit , a planned approach , 3 year mindmap.

Preparation Time : 10 hours daily if a fresher, 4 hours daily if a repeater.

Prep duration : It takes generally 400 hours to have a basic hold on to the syllabus, afterwards practice and revision hones the base to perfection.

Mode : Self-preparation or Guided preparation has to be chosen as per convenience of aspirant. Today, a plethora of options and free resources are available on internet which is a boon for any aspirant.

Rely more on Self : None other than you can make you successful.

Have a Mentor : A mentor is one who acts as an advisor and guides you through your journey to crack WBCS.

Choose "What not to read" : This is important as there is a plethora of junk in available in the market, many candidates waste their valuable time in choosing what to read and where to take guidance. You need to have exam oriented reading sources and exam oriented guidance. It doesn't mean having as many set of Mock Tests and bunches of Study Mats. How "exam oriented and effective" they are , will make the path easier for you. Read less, Revise more.
